Cycle route description

The cycle route from Balatonboglár to Balatonkeresztúr is along quiet side roads, then from Balatonkeresztúr there are dedicated cycle paths nearly all the way to Badacsony.

From Balatonkeresztúr, we cycle past Balatonberény, Keszthely, Alsógyenes, Vonyarcvashegy, Balatongyörök, then up the hill through the middle of the golf course at Becehegy.

From the top of the hill, we turn right and cycle on through Balatonederics and climb the incline past the Szigliget turn-off and on to the E71 junction where we turn right towards Badacsony. The E71 main road into Badacsony is flat but it has fast moving traffic passing cyclists very closely.

The cycle route runs parallel to the E71, up the side of the Badacsony hills. It is safer but it is a much more tiring ride as the road is constantly undulating.

After Badacsony, there are cycle paths next to the E71.

Cycle along the cycle paths whenever possible and follow the E71 until the Tihany turn-off behind the Tihany peninsula is reached. From there, turn right and cycle along the cycle paths and main road to the Tihany Ferry.

Take the ferry to Szántód then cycle back to Balatonboglár through Balatonföldvár, Balatonszárszó, Balatonszemes and Balatonlelle.
