Expert riders as well as weekend fitness cyclists take part in cycle races around Lake Balaton. The race course takes place on main roads, with usual road traffic controlled by police. The cycle route around Lake Balaton is a little over 200 kilometres long. Cycle routes around the lake include lake side cycle paths and quite lanes through towns and villages. Whole families, including very young children, can be seen cycling safely along winding cycle paths around the Lake Balaton. Away from the lakeside, there are quiet roads through little villages and gently rolling countryside. Bicycles can be hired at Balatonboglar and most other Balaton lakeside resorts. |
